Advanced Biblical Hebrew 3: Angels in the Bible, and Beyond
This semester, we'll dig deeper as we discover the growing role of angels in the Bible, focusing on passages from Isaiah, Ezekiel and Zechariah. A new angel category appears in Isaiah: the seraph, and both Isaiah and Ezekiel contain passages that describe angelic creatures in greater detail than the past, with physical traits similar to comparable creatures from Assyrian and Babylonian religion. We'll close with sections from Zechariah whose interpretive angel lays the groundwork for powerful angelic personalities found in early Jewish and Christian writing.
This course will be available to registered students at no extra charge via Zoom online conference services. Students may attend live in the classroom, live online or anytime via recording.
