Israel at 70: An Ancient and Modern Adventure (Onliine Option)

This course was offered in Winter/Spring, 2018.

Modern Israel may be celebrating its three score and ten years, but in fact its lifetime stretches back over three millennia. Our course will begin with a journey through the key sites and events of ancient Israel, connecting students with both the biblical text and the lifeways of our ancestors. We'll move on to the story of modern Israel, from the beginnings of the Zionist movement to current headlines.

This is the recommended pre-tour course for the Lehrhaus/Tiyul Jewish Journeys trip to Israel with an optional extension to Petra, but is also open to those who want to learn more about our original homeland.

Class participants will also have access to an expanded, fully narrated, and illustrated version of the course (including a virtual visit to Petra) online.
