Rabbi Hugh Seid-Valencia serves as the Director of Community Engagement at the Addison-Penzak JCC in Los Gatos. He spent ten years teaching Jewish Studies at Kehillah Jewish High School in Palo Alto, where he served most recently as Director of Israel and Jewish Studies Curricula. After studying at Deep Springs College, he earned a B.A. with Highest Honors in English Literature from UC Berkeley and received his rabbinical ordination from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. He has a vast array of teaching experience, including work with adults, college students, and high school students. He served as the Jewish Advisor at Swarthmore College, trained as a chaplain, and taught for several years at Berkeley Midrasha. He is married to Tricia Creason-Valencia, a documentary filmmaker. They have two children, Dahlia and Elijah. Rabbi Hugh enjoys tai chi, gardening and walking with his spaniel Jadey.
