In the Torah, God tells Bezalel to make the high priest’s garments “for glory and for beauty.” For most of Jewish history, Jewish art took the form of ritual objects but in the last few centuries, Jewish artists have found new ways to express themselves, often in dialog with the surrounding cultures. So what is “Jewish art”?
