Bringing Buber Into Practice: An Experiential Journey Into I and Thou
This class will be experiential in nature, focusing on what Martin Buber has to teach us about having I-Thou relationships. We will learn from Buber, as if he were our Hassidic Rebbe, the practice of being more integrally connected with every facet of our lives. We will examine his writings, his musings, and stories of his being. We will experience meditations and practice interactive exercises designed to bring ourselves present into an I-Thou relationship with our world.
Martin Buber’s seminal work, “I and THOU,” a philosophy regarding our relationships to life in full authenticity. Whether that relationship be with ourselves, nature, each other, and/or the divine, noticing the fullness and details of what is happening in the moment is the essence of that connection. Buber was a man who could hear the extraordinary in the simple, mundane details of life.
