Out on a Ledge
Out on a Ledge is the compelling memoir of Eva Libitzky, co-authored by award-winning historian Fred Rosenbaum. It tells the rarely examined story of a Hasidic girl in the Holocaust, a dutiful daughter who survived the Lodz ghetto, Auschwitz, a slave labor camp, and Theresienstadt. At the limit of human endurance, she lost her faith, but not her instincts, intelligence, or courage. Fred Rosenbaum researched this book not only through a hundred hours of interviews, but also as a fellow at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, where he unearthed shocking documents about Eva’s Holocaust journey, data obtained from an German archive, which had lain fallow for sixty-five years.
