Lives in Bloom: Voices and Images of Jewish Youth in Poland Before the Holocaust

This course is no longer offered.

What was it like to be a young Jew in Poland between the first and second world wars? Using the interviews and images compiled by Centropa's Library of Rescued Memories, as well as autobiographies written by Jewish youth in the 1930s, this talk will explore the dynamic lives of young Polish Jews from 1918 to 1939. From schools to summer camps, protests to playgrounds, the talk will also highlight how a vibrant Jewish youth culture developed during this period.

The Oshman Family JCC is hosting a Centropa exhibition called "Jewish Witness to a Polish Century," which uses 21st-century technologies to connect us to 20th-century Jewish history. For more information, visit www.centropa.org.
