Professor Rachel B. Gross is the John and Marcia Goldman Chair in American Jewish Studies at San Francisco State University. She is a scholar of religious studies specializing in American religious history and American Jewish history, interested in the lives, practices, and communities of twentieth-century and contemporary American Jews. Her research interests include the ethnographic study of contemporary Jews, the visual and material cultures of American religions, and the role of space and place in the formation of religious communities.
