Bay Area native Jeremy Brown earned his Ph.D. in Hebrew and Judaic Studies from New York University. He teaches in the department of Theology and Religious Studies at University of San Francisco and serves as director of the USF Lecture Series in Jewish-Christian Relations. Brown is a 2016-17 fellow of the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture and is active lecturing member of the American Academy of Religion, the Association of Jewish Studies and the Society for Jewish Ethics. Brown’s current research pertains to the history of medieval Jewish mysticism and philosophy. He is currently completing a book entitled Distilling Depths from Darkness: Forgiveness and Repentance in Medieval Iberian Jewish Mysticism.
