David Biale – David Biale served as Koret Professor of Jewish History and Director of the Center for Jewish Studies at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California from 1986-1999. He was then appointed Emanuel Ringelblum Professor of Jewish History in the Department of History of University of California Davis. He has held fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Lady Davis Foundation, the National Endowment of the Humanities, the American Council of Learned Societies and the Social Science Resesarch council. Professor Biale has published widely on Jewish culture, Jewish modernity, and Jewish sexuality, and is currently working on a history of Jewish secularism titled Not in the Heavens.
